Poetry Book Overview

There Used to Be a Fish Called Salmon is an anthology of a lifetime of experiences captured in poetry, short stories and story-poems by long-time Seattle resident Teresa Mosteller. Experienced in several careers, motherhood, avocations including theatre and choral singing and years of volunteerism, Mrs. Mosteller’s constant preoccupation throughout all of these endeavors has been writing, with onstage productions to her credit. Salmon is her first published book.

Mrs. Mosteller has been writing since she was a child. Her father would bring home library books that captured her imagination, and her literary interest steadily grew. Eventually, he challenged her to write her own stories, essays and poems. When she was twelve, she completed her first poetry book — a crude attempt that led to a lasting endeavor.

A fulfilling life of commitments and humble exploits frequently interrupted her writing, yet ultimately enhanced it. Her personal experiences have provided the bulk of the material that she compiled for Salmon: a mixed collection of tales and poems that are relatable, benevolent and tender.
